Asalamu Alaykum. In Shaa Allah, I'd like to tell you all a story that really impacted my life.
The woman in the picture is a woman I've never seen in my life. But just [today] when me and my father were out at Walmart grabbing something on our way home, I had seen this lady in a wheelchair, both legs in casts, and still managing to push a food cart as she rolled herself in a wheelchair. You know my dad has tried to teach us the importance of helping others in Islam at a young age. I kindly asked this women if I could push her cart and assist her. After a little persuasion, she gave in. When she was ready to checkout, she spoke with me for a little and said her doctor won't allow her to work in her condition so she sews to pay her medicals bills. When we finished checking out for her, the total was more than she had anticipated so she was asked to start taking things off her cart. But my dad didn't hesitate to pay the remaining of her total. She asked for me to put our information down so she can pay us back. I simply told her "you don't have to pay us back" that's when she said..."I know you guys are Muslim, I am too. I am a convert, just a bad Muslim"....that's when I literally was trying to hold my tears in front of the entire Walmart. She had a taxi ride home but before she left, I asked her if I could take a picture with her because of how much she impacted me. My dad gave her some uplifting encouragement given her condition.
Brothers and sisters, you never know who you're helping. Muslim or non-Muslim, a simple act of pushing someone's cart can go a long way. I pray Allah heals her condition and allows her and all of us to never lose trust in Allah (swt)." Ameen.
